Special Economic Zones (SEZs) offer benefits like tax breaks, reduced
regulation, relaxed application of labour laws, and cheap land in order
to incentivize businesses. SEZs must be set up strategically near ports
and significant trade-friendly locations to succeed.
Under the Open Door Policy of 1978, Deng Xiaoping, known as the
"Architect of Modern China", set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs),
leading to China becoming the 'world's factory'. Consequently, SEZs
served as the catalyst to make China a superpower.
